Winter 2023 Session registration begins Tuesday, January 3, 2023 for City Taxpayers and Friday, January 6, 2023 for Non-City Taxpayers. Activity Guide/activities will be available for viewing starting December 23, 2022.

 We are a “High Five” organization and offer many programs, activities and workshops for preschool, children and youth. You can drop-in weekly or register for a whole session. Or, visit our Youth Belleville page for activities for students in Grade 6 and up.

Program descriptions

For additional information on dates, times and fees and/or to register, follow the link under each description, go to our online registration or call our office at 613-966-4632.

Registration for Winter 2023 classes begin January 3 at 8:30 A.M. for City of Belleville Taxpayers and January 6 at 8:30 A.M. for Non-City Taxpayers. Classes in the Winter session run from the week of January 16 to April 2, 2023.

Note: Please view your receipt for specific weeks your classes aren't running due to holidays or special events in the building.

ActivityDescription

Mini Scientists

Little learners are captivated by science! Children learn by doing, feeling, touching and examining. The science program will give them the opportunity to learn through different experiments in a hands-on learning environment.

Art - Muck & Mess

Your child will discover the world of arts and crafts. Your child will socialize with other children all while sparking their imagination.

Preschool Play Zone

This new program is a drop-in program for your little one to explore and play with others. Think of this program like an open gym but for preschool kids only. Our instructor will put out equipment/circuits to enjoy and you and your kids can free play as you wish. 

Mini Movers This program is designed to introduce gross motor skills through climbing, balance, movement and spatial awareness through games, circuits and more.
Kindergarten Readiness

This is a skill development based program to teach both gross motor and fine motor skills through physical literacy, art, science and more in a play based approach. This program is great to prepare your little ones for their first year in school. Please note this is a unparented class. Please bring a snack and drink to each class.

Snowy Town Painting: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room and paint a snowy town scene on a canvas.

-Friday, February 24 5:00-6:00p.m.

Tissue Paper Stained Glass: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room and create a tissue paper stained glass craft.

-Friday, March 24 5:00-6:00p.m.

Emu Canvas Painting: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room during our special pop-up event and create a funny emu painting on a canvas Our instructor will walk you through it step by step so no experience is needed.

Artful Antics

Get those creative juices flowing each week while you learn and create a new masterpiece! No previous art experience needed.

Science Explorers

Explore a variety of scientific topics each week in this hands-on learning environment.

Soccer Skills & Drills

Join us each week for a fun recreational soccer program. This program will be offered in two age groups (4 to 8 years and 9 to 13 years). This program focuses on conditioning, skill development and game play. No previous soccer experience needed. All skill levels welcome.

Child/Youth Basketball

This program is an unstructured pick-up basketball game. It's a pay as you play activity. Bring your pals, meet new friends and practice your skills!

Sporty Kids

This program focuses on getting kids active in a variety of ways including camp style games, sports and skill development. Each week you will practice sport specific skills, fitness and game play with the help of our instructor.

Melting Abstract Painting: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room and paint a abstract melting looking painting on a canvas.

-Friday, February 24 6:30-7:30p.m.

Tissue Paper Flower: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room and learn to create a tissue paper flower.

-Friday, March 24 6:30-7:30p.m.

Pom Pom Bunny Wreath: Enjoy a fun hour in the Youth Room during our special pop-up event and create a pom pom bunny wreath.

Youth Room

Pre-register to drop-in to one of our Youth Room timeslots starting in July. Times and dates vary based on staff/volunteer availability each month. Drop-in is free for youth in Grade 6-12. A free Youth Room Card is required for this program and must be brought to each visit. Register for your Youth Room Card online and pick it up at the Customer Service Desk. Register here for Youth Room drop-in times (free).

Artist Hub

Youth will learn about a variety of visual art mediums each week and take home their masterpieces! Topics include but are not limited to clay, acrylic painting, and more. No previous visual art experience needed.

STEM-tastic

Each week your Youth will explore a new STEM activity using their problem solving skills.

This is a co-ed program ideal for beginners or players who would like a non-competitive game just to have fun and be active. There is a no spiking/attacking rule.

Open Gym

Must be 10 years+ to come without a parent. The gym is available for all ages to play sports like basketball or floorball and access to equipment may be limited.

Child/Youth Basketball

This program is an unstructured pick-up basketball game. It's a pay as you play activity. Bring your pals, meet new friends and practice your skills!

Family Soccer

Bring the family and enjoy this drop in time in the gymnasium to play from soccer.

Summer Day Camps

Summer Day Camp information will be viewable online on April 14, 2023 at 8:30 A.M.

Registration will open;

April 24, 2023 at 8:30 A.M. for City of Belleville Taxpayers, and

April 27, 2023 at 8:30 A.M. for Non-City Taxpayers

These spots are expected to fill fast so register as early as you can. Stay tuned for more information. 

Youth Belleville

Youth Belleville offers programs run by youth for youth in the Youth Room; designed to make teens feel valued and empower them to help shape their future and the world around them. Become a member and help determine activities and events that can be held for youth in the Youth Room and at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Youth employment with the City of Belleville

Throughout the year the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (City of Belleville municipality) hires for a variety of recreation positions from instructors, lifeguards, facility staff and more! Check the City of Belleville employment page regularly for new postings. Apply online for all positions you're willing to work.

Youth volunteering

Youth must be 14 years of age and over to be a volunteer at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Youth 18 years of age and over will need a police check with vulnerable sector screening. Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (2 doses) is required at this time for all volunteers within the City of Belleville.
