Facility swim test
You can swim in the deep end once you pass the facility swim test (swim 25 metres without stopping and show that you can put your face underwater at least once).
Lane Swim Etiquette
To ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment, please follow the lane swim etiquette below:
- Land swims may and probably will be shared with other swimmers (4 per lane). To book a private lane at $16.00/hour at one of our rental times call us at 613-966-4632 or email us.
- Swim in an empty lane if one is available.
- With two swimmers sharing a lane, you must communicate with each other and determine if you are swimming in a counter-clockwise circle or splitting the lane side by side.
- The moment a third swimmer enters your lane, you are required to swim in a counter-clockwise circle.
- If you need to share a lane, let the swimmer/swimmers already in the lane know you're getting in by dangling your foot in the pool or sitting on the edge.
- Choose a lane with swimmers who are swimming your own pace.
- When passing a swimmer, ensure that no one is coming towards you on the opposite side of the lane. Pass the swimmer and then return to your own side. If you need to rest, wait in the corner of your lane and allow other swimmers to pass. Do not speed up if someone tries to pass you. Do not swim directly behind the swimmer ahead of you, as this may result in injuries.
- Do not use another swimmer's equipment unless they give you permission to do so.
- Be polite. Explain lane swimming etiquette in a courteous manner.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask a lifeguard.
Pool Fouling
In the event of a pool fouling, we must close the pool to clean it as per the Health Regulations. These are unpredictable events and can mean a 1 to 13 hour closure. Help us prevent a fouling in the pool:
- Shower prior to entry and re-entry into the pool;
- Do not swim if you are unwell;
- Anyone not toilet trained must wear clothing (like a rubber pant or swim diaper) to keep fecal matter contained; and
- Children sized swim diapers are for sale at the Customer Service Desk
Recreation Fee Assistance
If you live in Belleville, you can apply for recreation subsidies and fee assistance. We have subsidies available for 25% to 75% off the cost of the program based on income. The subsidy expires on June 30 of each year.
