Youth Belleville offers programs run by youth for youth; designed to make teens feel valued and empower them to help shape their future and the world around them. Become a member and help determine activities and events that can be held for youth in the Youth Room and at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

Mission

To provide youth with a positive way to express themselves, meet new people, and find a place where they belong by creating events and activities for youth that are free of prejudice, bullying, and violence.

Youth Room

Learn more about the Youth Room.

Location

During operational times you can enjoy the Youth Room at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre on the second floor. A drop-in room for Grade 6 to 12 students full of games, electronics and more. Register for Youth Room drop-in times here.

What can you do in the Youth Room?

  • Special event nights (may have cost associated)

Cost

Free for Grade 6 to 12 students. Must register for a timeslot so we can do attendance. You can register online, by phone or at the Customer Service Desk at Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre.

Youth Room volunteering

We are looking for Youth volunteers. Flexible shifts will be offered to work with your schedule. Gain community hours and Municipality experience as a Youth Room Attendant. Apply online with our Youth Volunteer Application form. 

Hours

The Youth Room is open! New Youth Room times come out monthly. The Youth Room is monitored by volunteers and staff and hours vary based on their availability. Pre-register for a free timeslot.

Youth employment with the City of Belleville

Throughout the year the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (City of Belleville municipality) hires for a variety of recreation positions from instructors, lifeguards, facility staff and more! Check the City of Belleville employment page regularly for new postings.

Youth volunteering

Youth must be 14 years of age and older to be a volunteer at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Youth 18 years and under require a Criminal Record Check current within the last 6 months to volunteer. Youth 18 years of age and over will need a Vulnerable Sector Check current within the last 6 months to volunteer.

Belleville Youth Engagement Committee

The Belleville Youth Engagement Committee (B.Y.E.C.) is made up of a number of youth from Belleville and City Councillors who work to advise City Council and other community organizations about issues that youth care about with the goal of making Belleville a better place for young people. 

The mandate of the Belleville Youth Engagement Committee is to:

  • Represent all youth interests in the City of Belleville by advising City Council, City staff where appropriate and other community institutions on matters pertaining to youth
  • Undertake any other advisory duties as requested by City Council with the common goal of making Belleville a better place for all youth and ensuring youth have a voice

B.Y.E.C. Agendas and Minutes

B.Y.E.C. Highlights

  • Hosting a booth at the Summer Activities in the Park event on June 3, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00p.m. at West Zwick's Island Park.
  • Free student transit passes initiative launched for Grade 9 to 12 City of Belleville students.
  • Participated in the Quinte Trash Bash in 2025.
  • Youth Week May 1 to 7, 2025 at the Community Services Department.
  • Host free skate on March 12, 2025 from 4:00 to 4:50p.m. in the Family Dental Centre Arena at Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre. 160 capacity. First come, first served.
  • Attend the 2024 Rural Youth Summit in Belleville.
  • Hosted/Sponsored a free public skate at Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre on January 1, 2025 to ring in the new year with over 140 participants present.
  • Conducted a survey for Youth on resources they feel are important in the community.
  • Bike giveaway to local high school student for completing the Youth survey.
  • Volunteer Fair visits at local secondary school put on by Volunteer and Information HPE.
  • Regular visits to career/civics classes to talk about local government and what youth need in the community of Belleville.
  • Youth community resource guide created and distributed. Request copy or view below.
  • Attended Loyalist College information fair.
  • Visited One Roof in Kingston to learn more about Youth Wellness Hubs of Ontario.
  • Promoted local events for Youth on social media and website.
  • Met with local leaders at monthly committee meetings to learn more about local organizations and causes.
  • Launched Belleville Youth Newsletter.
