Spring 2023 Session registration begins Monday, March 27 for City Residents/Taxpayers and Thursday, March 30 for Non-City Residents/Taxpayers. Activity Guide/activities will be available for viewing starting March 24, 2023. Summer camp registration begins the week of April 24, 2023.

We offer a variety of Health and Wellness programs for adults, older adults, drop-in sports and games, workout studio, personal training and the Family Dental Centre Indoor Track (10+).  Programs are offered at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Road). Register online or call 613-966-4632 for details and to register.

Program descriptions

Levels:

  • Recreation: Activity done for enjoyment for all levels.
  • Open: All levels are welcome.
  • Beginner: A person just starting to learn a skill or take part in an activity
  • Intermediate: A person having the knowledge or skill of someone who is more advanced than a beginner but not yet an expert.
  • Advanced: A person with lots of experience and knowledge in a specific skill or activity.

*It is at the discretion of the participant to decide which level they best fit.

New! Circuits

Circuit training is a highly efficient way to exercise while maximizing caloric burn and strengthening the whole body. A combination of equipment and body weight exercises to help improve your muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. New! Body Sculpt

Body Sculpt class is a great balance of strength and cardio to maximize burning fat calories while toning your body. In this class you will learn how to safely perform a variety of weight training exercises using different weights, bands, and your body weight. This class will help you focus and reach your personal goals.

New! Mom & Baby Fitness

Mom & Baby Fitness can bring their infants and complete a fitness workout in the Aerobic studio. It will be a full body workout with various equipment to help maximize the workout. New! Intro to Yoga

If you have thought "I could never do Yoga!" then this class is for you. This foundational class introduces the very basics of the yoga practice, where movements are broken down individually. Participants will learn the basic alignment of postures, mindfulness and breathing techniques. No experience required. Adult Health & Wellness Programs

New! Walking/ Running Club Free 

Free - Walking/Running Club. It's time to get healthy and fit through walking or progressing to running. Make sure you start off on the right foot with proper warm ups, stretching and walking/running techniques. Meet a certified trainer on the FDC Indoor Walking Track to begin the class.

30 Minute Body Blast

30 Minute Body Blast will test your endurance and strength in this fast-paced, full body workout circuit. Throughout the 30 minutes you will utilize free weights, resistance bands and body exercises to target all major muscle groups. This class will wake you up and leave you feeling stronger and more energized.

Fit & Firm

Fit and Firm is a 60 minute group fitness class focusing on learning how to tone and strengthen your body. In this class you will do an extended cardiovascular warm up, resistance training, targeted stretching, and work on your technique using repetitive movements. This class will keep you in shape and working hard.

H.I.I.T. 

H.I.I.T. stands for High Intensity Interval Training meaning that is focuses on exerting maximal effort in small intense bursts of exercise followed by short recovery times. The focus in this course is on aerobic exercises, cardio, and full body exercises. This class keeps your heart rate up and burns fat even after the workout is done.

TRX

TRX is a form of suspension training in which using your own body weight, gravity and leverage you can improve muscular strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. In this class movements can be modified from beginner levels to advanced levels within the same workout. This class will give you a chance to try new equipment while working on different muscle groups.

Line Dancing

 

(Beginner or Experienced)

 
 Line Dancing is choreographed movements done in a repeating sequence of steps in a line or row of people. Throughout this class you will burn calories, tone muscles, improve balance, and stimulates brain cells. This class will strengthen neural pathways and improve cognitive health through the coordination of the brain and body.

Yoga Fit

Yoga Fit is designed to explore the body’s potential in all asanas, also known as postures. As you move through the different asanas there will be an emphasis on proper skeletal alignment and breathe control while also working on your strength and balance. This class will leave you will new self-awareness.

Gentle Flow Yoga

Gentle Flow Yoga is a softer approach to dynamic yoga where the poses will still flow together but at a more enjoyable level. The nature of this class is a slower pace and gentle practice of the poses while still being active and maintaining a peaceful approach. This class has less strain on the mind and body than other classes that are offered.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the science of harmonizing the solar and lunar energies within you.  The focus of this class is to find the higher consciousness to life through yoga poses and breathing techniques while taking the time to guide you through each pose properly. This class will help to improve your alignment and anxiety.

Family Yoga 

Family Yoga is for ages 6 years and older and is a great class to introduce kids to yoga. This class will go over the basic and fundamental movements of yoga. Some of the fundamentals include physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines aimed to control and still the mind while being active.

Stretch & Relax

Stretch and Relax is a 30 minute class focusing on stretching and relaxing the muscles in your body. Instructors will help participants to focus on their individual needs and giving different variations to stretches. It focuses on muscles and tendons to deliberately flex or stretch in order to improve muscle elasticity and comfortable muscle tone. The result of this class is the feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility and range of motion.

Zumba

Zumba is a combination of cardio exercises and Latin-inspired dance movements. This will take the “work” out of the workout by mixing low-intensity movements with high-intensity movements for an interval-style, calorie burning dance fitness party. This class is fun, energetic and will leave you feeling amazing. No previous dance experience required.

New! Walking/ Running Club Free

Chair Yoga

Our special Chair Yoga classes are for those who no longer wish to be up and down off their mats. It offers modifications to regular yoga to accommodate those who require it.

Older Adult Yoga

 Yoga is a form of exercise combining slow, steady movements, controlled breathing, and relaxation. Our older adult classes offer modifications to regular yoga to accommodate those who require it. Research suggests yoga can improve your sleep, reduce stress, and enhance mindfulness. Participants must bring their own mat.

Gentle Core Strengthening

 These workouts focus first on developing core strength, the back, abdomen and hips. Body weight resistance as well as bands and stability balls are used to gain a better mind/body connection. Through breathing instruction and modifications, you are encouraged to work at your own level to increase strength, flexibility and coordination.

Zumba Gold (50+)

 Join this fun and casual atmosphere that is more like a party than a workout, but you will definitely enjoy the fitness benefits. No previous dance experience necessary.

Mix It Up

Enjoy this intermediate level fun class that is different every week! Low impact aerobics, resistance bands, weights and more will be used to give you a workout designed to improve cardio, strength, flexibility and balance.

Stretch & Balance Fit

 This gentle class will help you move better, feel better and become stronger while having fun. Join us for an hour of seated and standing gentle movements in resistance training, balance and flexibility exercises. All exercises can be performed on a chair if needed.

Stretch & Strengthen

This workout is designed so you can work at your own fitness level using equipment or your own body weight to train your balance, keep your bones and joints healthy and your heart fit and strong. By combining cardiovascular exercise, resistance training, and stretching into one class, you will be able to work towards improving your total body strength, cardiovascular health and flexibility.

Strong Seniors and StongerER Seniors

 

Studies show that weight-bearing exercises stimulate bone growth. The use of free weights, body weights, bands and aerobic exercise in this program will help you reach this goal. Learning to use proper form, breathing techniques and full range of motion to increase flexibility will make you feel stronger and more energized. For those who are ready for more of a challenge, try the StrongERseniors!

ActivityDescription

Basketball

Basketball is a team sport where two teams oppose each other on a court trying to shoot a ball through the other teams’ hoop. This sport will work on your team building skills, your coordination skills, and your fast thinking skills. This class will leave you fit, active, and enhance your skill level. Drop-in Sports & Games

Crokinole

Crokinole is a popular table top game with elements of shuffleboard and curling. Join in this popular game, meet new people and enjoy some friendly competition. Drop-in Sports & Games

Table Tennis

Table Tennis is a sport where two-four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It is a great way to meet new people, burn calories and improving health. This class will allow you to learn something new or further develop your skills. Drop-in Sports & Games

Open Gym

Open Gym is a time where participants of all ages can come to use the space for physical activity. Equipment will be available for participants to use such as basketballs, volleyballs, floorball equipment, and more. Access to equipment may be limited based on the number of registrations. Drop-in Sports & Games

NEW! Family Gym/Open Gym

Family Gym/Open Gym is a time where participants of all ages can come to use the space for physical activity. The gym will be split into a family friendly side and an open gym side. Equipment will be available for participants to use such as basketballs, volleyballs, floorball equipment, and more. Volleyball

Volleyball is a team sport of two teams with six players each, where each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other teams’ court under organized rules. Players use their hands to bat a ball back and forth over a high net trying to make the ball hit the ground of the other teams’ court. This class will let you be competitive in a fun and open environment. Drop-in Sports & Games
 

Badminton

Badminton is a sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net from player to player. The objective of the game is to hit the shuttlecock back and forth across the net and keep it from hitting the ground. This class will allow you to keep fit, stay active, practice skills whiling having fun with friends. Drop-in Sports & Games

Pickleball

Pickleball is an extremely popular sport that combines elements if tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played on a court with a hard paddle and a whiffle ball where the goal of the game is to hit the ball back and forth until someone makes a mistake and points are received, aiming for 11 points to win the game. This class will allow you to have some fun, learn something new and meet new people. Drop-in Sports & Games

 

Workout Studio

Workout Studio - $3.00 per person. 12 people per 1 hour timeslot. Monday through Sunday. Various timeslots. Pre-booking is required.

Personal training

Personal Training is a one to one session with you and a personal trainer who will personalize a workout to your needs, abilities, skills, and knowledge. Availability is limited and is based on each instructor’s schedules and availability.

Our personal trainers will help you to reach your health and fitness goals. The first session begins with a consultation where your trainer can get to know you, yours goals, your current fitness abilities, health restrictions and your availability. Completing this consultation allows your trainer to create a custom plan that will get you started on the right track to success.

Private Rates (includes tax)

  • 30 min - $23.00
  • 45 min - $34.00
  • 60 min - $45.00

Semi-Private Rates (includes tax)

  • 30 min - $14.00
  • 45 min - $19.00
  • 60 Min - $25.00

Family Dental Centre Indoor Track

Clients do not need to pre-register for the FDC Indoor Track.

  • Cost is free
  • The track area will not be regularly monitored, but we will do spot checks to ensure clients are following the rules.
  • Open 7 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (holiday hours may differ).

Please be aware that your actions have an effect on others. To ensure a safe, rewarding and positive experience for all users and staff, please treat everyone with respect and dignity. Unsafe, disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour could result in removal of program room privileges.

Running Track Guidelines:

  • Inside Lane – Slower Lane
  • Middle Lane - Medium Speed Lane
  • Outer Lane - Faster Lane

Running/Track Direction:

  • Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday – Counter Clockwise
  • Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday – Clockwise

Distances:

  • One Lap: 163.94m (inside lane) – 175.44m (outside lane)
  • One (1) Km = 6.1 laps on the inside lane / 5.7 laps of outside lane
  • 9.6 laps = 1 mile

General Rules:

  • Outdoor footwear, cleats, socks, or bare feet are not permitted on the track.
  • Please wear only clean, athletic footwear while using the track.
  • Food, drinks and personal belongings are not permitted in the indoor track area.  Please secure these items in the lockers provided in the change rooms (bring a lock or purchase one from the front desk).
  • Water is permitted only in a closed container, no glass containers please.
  • Walking sticks or poles with sharp ends are not allowed on track.
  • Strollers are permitted on track, provided the wheels are clean.
  • Track users under the age of 13 years must be accompanied by an adult. Coaches, trainers, parents, guardians – please stay with your athletes/ youth to ensure proper supervision and usage of the track facility.

 Etiquette:

  • No spitting or littering.
  • This is a scent free area; please avoid using heavily scented products.

 Safety:

  • Please run/walk in direction indicated only.
  • Please allow faster walkers or runners to pass in the outer lanes.
  • Shoulder check and verbalize your intentions before passing. If being passed, please keep your pace consistent as speeding up or slowing down could be hazardous to others.
  • When slowing to a stop please shoulder check before moving off the track.
  • No free weights on the track.
  • Please report any accident, injury, or concerns immediately to staff.
