Registration for Spring 'B' Session begins Monday, May 16, 2022 for City Taxpayers and Thursday, May 19, 2022 for Non-City Taxpayers. Activity Guide/activities will be available for viewing starting May 6, 2022.

You can get active and stay healthy. Choose a class or program to best fit your fitness level; from very beginner to more challenging classes. Visit our health and wellness program page in the box below or join our 50+ Centre for just $5.00 for a year and enjoy some great programs. You can view and register the next two weeks of activities in the 50+ Centre Programs directly from the table below. To see future programs, click "filter" to set different dates. Please ensure you have a Perfect Mind account setup and an updated 50+ annual membership to register online with your username and password. For assistance, please call 613-966-4632. Sports and games

We have a variety of drop in sports and games, visit our health and wellness page.

Bid euchre

Bid Euchre is similar to Euchre, but it introduces an element of bidding in which the trump suit is
decided by which player bids to take the most tricks. The primary differences are the number of
cards dealt (8 instead of 5), absence of any undealt cards, the bidding and scoring process, and
the addition of a no trump declaration. It is a partnership game for four players and is played with
two decks of 24 cards each. Beginners are welcome.

Artists Collective

Need a friendly place to get creative with other artists? Bring your drawings, sculpting, easels,
brushes, paints and canvases and enjoy learning and sharing with other local artists. All levels
welcomed.

Bridge (Experienced)

Are you and avid Bridge player? Then this program is for your! Join other experienced bridge
players and enjoy an afternoon of socializing and playing your favourite game.

Deaf Seniors

This is a a great opportunity to enjoy a morning of games and socializing with older adults from
our deaf community.

Stitches

People get together to work on their knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, embroidery, cross
stitch, etc., projects while visiting and learning from others. There are 2 sewing machines, some
pattern books, a few knitting needles and some yarn. All levels are welcome.

Mah Jong

Mah Jong is a rummy-like game played with tiles rather than cards and is played with four or five
players. The object of Mahjong is to make the tiles match up with a hand on a Mahjong card.
Beginners are welcome.

Scrapbooking/Card Making

Come to work on your own photo pages or cards while visiting and learning from others. There
are some supplies available for you to try scrapbooking or card making before purchasing your
own materials. All levels are welcome.

Parkinsons Keep Moving Program

The Belleville-Quinte Parkinson Chapter offers this 30 minute workout of BIG movements lead by
QSWC Health and Wellness Instructors. The focus of the program is to benefit those with
Parkinson disease by using exercises specific to Parkinson’s Disease.

COPD Support Group

This is a support group in partnership with the Belleville and Quinte West Community Health
Care Centre to residents suffering with COPD. Information will be provided each month as well as
the opportunity to ask questions and socialize. Non-seniors are welcome to attend.Pre-registration is required and you must have a valid 50+ Centre Membership. 50+ Centre Programs or 613-966-4632 for information and to register.

Fun on the Phone!

 

A fun, free interactive telephone program offered by Belleville and Quinte West
Community Health Centre, Quinte West Public Library, City of Belleville Recreation, and
Gateway Community Health Centre. Join us every Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:00 pm for a
different program each week! The telephone number and passcode will be given to you
after registration. 50+ Centre Programs or 613-966-4632 for information and to register.

Cooking Classes - Zoom

The 50+ Centre has partnered with Quinte Gardens and their wonderful chef, Chef Jesse, to offer
an hour of cooking or baking. Every month you will learn new tips and tricks to enhance your
cooking skills. All supplies are provided by Quinte Gardens.50+ Centre Programs or 613-966-4632 for information and to register.

A compilation of Free beginner level programs to get the older adult population up and moving! Use these programs as an introduction to an activity you've been meaning to try for some time, to create a healthy routine by adding exercise or simply to surround yourself with others in an active setting.

Get Up and Go

The Seniors Get Up and Go class is a beginner’s progressive exercise program for older adults focused on removing barriers to participation in a healthy lifestyle. The goal of this program is to help older adults get out of the house, meet new people and learn new cardiovascular, balance, and bone strengthening activities. Please Note: You must have a valid 50+ Centre Membership to register for this program.

Let's Move

This FREE class is designed for exercise newbies to learn different movements and techniques that will increase their comfort level to participate in group classes. You will be introduced to basic moves that are incorporated into different styles of fitness classes. You too shall reap the benefits of physical activity! Please Note: You must have a valid 50+ Centre Membership to register for this program.

Movement & Mental Health

Exercise keeps our body, soul, and brain, healthy. It keeps us fit physically as well as mentally. Routine active helps to improve mental health by reducing anxiety and depression and improves self-esteem and cognitive function. The FREE Movement & Mental Health class provides physical activity and mental stimulation in a positive environment. Please Note: You must have a valid 50+ Centre Membership to register for this program.

A Matter of Balance

A Matter of Balance is a FREE program that helps reduce the fear of falling among older adults and encourages everyone to increase their activity levels. The sessions involve low-to-moderate level exercises to improve flexibility, balance, strength, and endurance. The program also teaches participants how to view falls and fears of falling as controllable and to set realistic goals for increasing their activity level. Please Note: You must have a valid 50 Centre Membership to register for this program

50+ Centre Programs

Intro to Yoga

If you have thought "I could never do Yoga!" then this FREE class is for you. This foundational class introduces the very basics of the yoga practice, where movements are broken down individually. Participants will learn the basic alignment of postures, mindfulness and breathing techniques. No experience required. Please Note: You must have a valid 50+ Centre Membership to register for this program.
