Learn-to-skate and power skating programs
You can take a group skating class or a private lesson.

Power skating
Improve speed, balance, stopping, stride, and posture. We offer beginner, intermediate/advance level options. This is not a learn to skate program. Full hockey gear is required. Sticks and helmets are mandatory. Visit our on-line registration page to sign-up.

Learn about the prerequisite for each power skating level below.
- Up to U9 (Under 9) level hockey players.
- Ages 9 to 12
- Have completed two sessions of Beginner.
- Ages 12+ or Power Skating Instructor approval.
Learn-to-Skate lessons
Please note that there will not be lessons in the Spring session due to limited ice.
Lessons are by general age and level. Preschool Learn to Skate lessons are for ages 3-5. Discover Skate lessons are for ages 6 years and up. Levels for Preschool and Discover Skate are from Star 1 to Star 4. Preschool Learn to Skate lessons are also broken down by parented (A) and un-parented (B) classes.
Please remember skates, helmet, mittens and/or gloves are mandatory. Parents on ice must also wear helmets, skates and gloves. Lesson registration closes 4 weeks after the lessons begin to give the most time possible to work towards the completion of the skills for each level.

Please note that all adults attending the parented (A) skating lessons must also be wearing skates, helmets and gloves.

Recreational skating
Please note that all recreational skating ice times you must check in at the Customer Service Desk prior to getting on the ice. Please place your wristband on your skates prior to going out onto the ice. Pre-registration is required for all recreational skates. Public skating
Public Skating - You must check-in register at the customer service desk to get your wristband. Bands must be worn on skate/laces before going out on the ice.
Skate details
Your safety is important to us. Please review the following details before you come.
- This is a drop-in program to practice skating on a less busy ice surface (maximum 50 skaters)
- CSA approved helmets are required for all skaters (parents and children)
- CSA approved skate aids are allowed
- You must sign-in at the Customer Service Desk. Please put your wristband on your skates/laces before going out onto the ice.
- Please follow the Public Skate Rules
- This is a drop-in leisure skating program for adults (16+)
- Figure skating and speed skating is not allowed
- CSA approved skate aids are allowed
- You must sign-in at the Customer Service Desk
- Please follow the Public Skate Rules
- This is a drop-in program (maximum 160 skaters). Depending on staffing levels, capacity limit may be maximum 59 skaters.
- CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters
- For everyone's safety, we cannot allow skate aids during these times
- Ice monitor staff will be present
- You must sign-in at the Customer Service Desk. Please put your wristband on your skates/laces before going out onto the ice.
- Please follow the Public Skate Rules
- Children under 10 must be supervised by a guardian over 16 years;
- Only skates are permitted on the ice (no other footwear);
- Please keep your food and drink away from the ice surface (water is okay);
- Skate in the same direction as the other skaters without weaving in and out between others;
- Skaters should avoid these behaviours: using profanity, horseplay, tag, skating backward, speed skating, or figure skating;
- Avoid bringing these items onto the ice: cell phones, headsets, electronic devices, balls, pucks, sticks, chairs, pylons, toboggans, or other items that could interfere with the safety of others;
- Please do not carry children;
- Report all accidents and incidents to the skate patrol staff; and
- Please conduct yourself appropriately and respect, listen to, and follow the instructions of the skate patrol staff.
- This is a drop-in program

- You must get a coloured band
- Please bring a light and dark coloured jersey
- CSA approved helmets are required
- Full hockey equipment is recommended
- All levels of players are welcome
- Body checking is not permitted
- Lifting or slap shots are not allowed
- Please respect your fellow players
- Fair and even shift play is necessary
- This is an inclusive drop-in program
- All skaters need a coloured band from the front desk before play begins
- CSA approved helmet and full hockey gear is mandatory
- All levels of players are welcome as it is a recreational, non-competitive program
- More experienced players must treat everyone nicely
- Body checking is forbidden
- Lifting or slap shots are not permitted
- Avoid aggressive play
- Passing to teammates and sharing the puck will be enforced
- Respect fellow players
- Program is monitored by a staff person to ensure fair and equal playing time
- Everyone must listen to the instructions of the staff person
- This program is for registered, insured, figure skaters and their coaches
- You must sign-in at the Customer Service Desk
- Coaches must be on the ice with their skaters to ensure safety on the ice
- Maximum 15 skaters on the ice
- Coaches must share ice and music time
- Please do not perform lifts, throws, and jumps during these practice sessions
- Are permitted on the ice
- Wheels must be cleaned to remove all salt or sand
- Occupants must wear a CSA approved helmet and be accompanied by a skater (wearing only skates) over 16 years
- For the most positive experience, we suggest a less busy skate – Family or Adult Skates

- Skaters are deemed to have knowledge of and assume the inherent risks involved with ice skating
- These include, but are not limited to: injuries from collisions or contact with individuals on the ice surface
- Injuries from falls
- Injuries from pucks, sticks, or other equipment that may cause injury during routine activities
Withdraw/refund information
If you are unable to attend your scheduled class/drop-in program please call 613-966-4632 to withdraw 24 hours in advance. This opens up a spot for another participant on the waitlist. Learn about our withdraw policy on our registration page.
Recreation Fee Assistance
If you live in Belleville, you can apply for recreation subsidies and fee assistance. We have subsidies available for 25% to 75% off the cost of the program based on income. The subsidy expires on June 30 of each year. To apply to recreation fee assistance, please fill out our online form.
