Swim Admissions Policy

You need to be familiar with this information to keep you safe.

swimmers with number of adults required

  • Non-swimmers must stay where they can touch bottom;
  • Flotation devices must remain in shallow water;
  • All children under the age of ten are required to have a parent in the pool facility;
  • Caregivers, have emergency contact information for the children in your care;
  • Proper, clean bathing attire is required;
  • Please tie back long hair;
  • Breath holding exercises are not allowed in the pool at any time. Breath holding can lead to shallow water blackout (loss of consciousness in the water) and is very dangerous;
  • Shoes must be worn outside of the pool area;
  • Cell phones and pictures are not allowed; and
  • Swimmers are required to wear a coloured wristband.

Ages 6 & under

  • Parents must stay within arms' reach at all times

Ages 7-9

  • Pass: allowed to swim in the deep end and a parent or guardian must stay in the pool facility
  • Fail: must stay in the shallow end and a parent or guardian must stay within arms' reach

Ages 10+

  • May be asked to do the facility swim test
  • Pass: allowed to swim in the deep end
  • Fail: must stay in the shallow end

Serious Medical Conditions

  • If you have a serious medical condition, you must bring someone who knows about your condition and can watch you directly.

Facility swim test

You can swim in the deep end once you pass the facility swim test (swim 25 metres without stopping and show that you can put your face underwater at least once).

Pool Fouling

In the event of a pool fouling, we must close the pool to clean it as per the Health Regulations. These are unpredictable events and can mean a 1 to 13 hour closure. Help us prevent a fouling in the pool:

  • Shower prior to entry and re-entry into the pool;
  • Do not swim if you are unwell;
  • Anyone not toilet trained must wear clothing (like a rubber pant or swim diaper) to keep fecal matter contained; and
  • Children sized swim diapers are for sale at the Customer Service Desk
